Productivity is a tricky thing to figure out. When we are in the mood to get things done, the drive and mood suddenly disappears. Even when you decide to be more productive at work, the mental blocks start popping up and you end the day with an unchecked to-do list.
This may seem like a natural occurrence as we do have our lazy days, but when it’s already affecting your output and efficiency at work, then you may have to do something about it. And one of these involve your morning habits.
Kickstarting your productivity is possible by doing these things as soon as you wake up every single day.
No soldier goes into battle without his ammunition. So even before the dawn breaks, go ahead and set your goals for the next day. List your tasks and projects and determine which ones have a higher priority. This helps set the course of your day and lets you focus on what matters the most.
Position your bed near your window so that you can wake up to seeing natural light the moment you open your eyes. Waking up to sunlight brings you that boost of energy you’ll need to power through the day. It also signals your body that it’s time to wake up, a much better alternative than hearing your alarm blasting off in your room. Additionally, wake up early. Remember, the early bird always catches the worm.
Sleeping dehydrates you, so grab a glass of water as soon as you rise from bed. You can place a glass on your bedside table or your kitchen, any place that you go to after working up. Don’t go for that cup of coffee as caffeine is dehydrating. Add in a slice of lemon in your water for added health benefits.
Contrary to popular belief, exercise brings in a surge of energy rather than tire you out. Exercise especially when you have so many things to do in the day. The adrenaline and endorphins can help you power through your to-do list of tasks. If a gym membership is too costly, you can always jog or run in your local park, or take advantage of free fitness workouts on YouTube.
Setting aside just a few minutes in your morning to meditate can do wonders even during the most hectic of work days. It allows you to clear your mind of any unnecessary worries and fears, so that you can focus on what matters most. Meditations also lets you focus on yourself first, and give yourself the love and care that you deserve.
Try incorporating these steps in your day-to-day routine and see how it affects your productivity. You may be surprised at just how productive and efficient you can be not just at work, but in other aspects of your life.
