Crowds. Office drama. Routines.
Those were the things I once hated when it comes to work. My definition of an ideal work environment is where you are growing in your chosen field through correct guidance from people you work with, with the right equipment and influential passion from your teammates.
I also dream of a place where there is a healthy mix between collaboration and communication, and I’ve recognized that achieving this comes with a number of challenges. But this hasn’t changed my desire to be part of a collaborative, creative and amazing team that allows me to work on what I am most passionate about – writing.
However, traditional offices I’ve worked with did not allow me to get my dream working environment. They were too conventional, old-fashioned and outdated.
Then an option presented itself to me: working online.
When I first entered the online work arena, all I had with me was the skill and the passion to write. It wasn’t an easy field back then because it wasn’t the “ideal job”. Having to deal with common stereotypes of online workers was one of the major challenges I faced, not to mention shady clients in the past.
No matter how hard it was, I went head on, knowing that one day I would land a company that values skills and its people.
This is where AwayTeam came into the picture. Working with AwayTeam has made me feel like I am a real employee and a person in the virtual world. Collaboration is easier and more fun because of the way my colleagues welcome and accept different backgrounds and cultures. The company does not tolerate discrimination of gender, skills and education, and to me, that is beautiful and rare.
Being in AwayTeam has allowed me to build on my existing skills, letting me learn new things not just on the job but beyond too!
Besides being able to grow professionally, AwayTeam gives me the chance to nurture my personal relationships. I get to spend precious time with my family and siblings and manage my extra hours without major compromises. Having that alone is a sure win for me.
I know that online work is the road less taken. However, it is the most satisfying and most rewarding job I’ve had. It’s like finding the right person to love, and they happen to love you back too. Now that I have I found it, I’ll never ever let go.
So why did I choose to work online? All for the name of love, passion and growth.
